BESS SCADA & Control Systems
Battery storage visibility, alarms and control interfaces across BMS, PCS, plant controllers and grid-facing metering.
BESS SCADA
Controls that make renewable assets operable.
A BESS site can generate a huge amount of status, mode, limit and alarm data. The value comes from turning that data into a disciplined operating picture: state of charge, available capacity, active constraints, fault context and dispatch readiness in one coherent view.
SES role
The control and visibility layer
SES does not manufacture batteries, inverters, turbines or OEM plant controllers. We integrate them into a clear SCADA and PLC control layer so operators can see what is happening, understand why, and act with confidence.
Engineering scope
What we design, integrate and support
Clear responsibilities, structured data and operator-ready controls across grid-facing renewable assets.
BMS and PCS integration
Map OEM battery and power conversion signals into a structured tag model that operators, maintainers and analysts can understand.
Dispatch-aware visibility
Tie storage state, charge/discharge limits, plant modes and grid constraints together so the site team can diagnose availability quickly.
Alarm rationalisation
Convert noisy OEM fault lists into clear alarm priorities, event narratives and HMI views that support real operational decisions.
Integration layer
Built around the equipment you already have
OEM systems stay responsible for their specialist protection and asset functions. SES makes the site coherent at plant level.
Battery systems
SOC, SOH, protection states, operating limits, warnings and faults from the BMS interface.
Power conversion
PCS mode, active/reactive power, availability, trips, permissives and conversion performance data.
Plant control
PPC/EMS interfaces for site modes, dispatch limits, setpoint visibility and control handover points.
Grid and metering
Export/import metering, grid status, transformer data and constraints that influence storage operation.
Operator outcomes
Less noise. Faster diagnosis. Better control.
A renewable SCADA system should help the site team make decisions, not simply collect tags.
Clear site state
Operators can see whether the site is available, constrained, charging, discharging or inhibited, without hunting through raw fault lists.
Faster fault response
Alarms, trends and event history are structured around likely causes and operational impact.
Data ready for reporting
Consistent tag naming and historian-ready values support performance reviews, compliance evidence and future analytics.
Architecture
BESS system architecture
Select each layer to see how SCADA interacts with the battery stack, conversion system and grid-facing controls.
SCADA interaction: BMS
SCADA role: alarm aggregation and tag structuring, consistent alarm naming, monitoring of health indicators, and operator-friendly HMI views.
The BMS provides cell/module state, protections, and condition signals. Many BMS systems expose alarms and measured values through an OEM interface.
Integration with existing renewable SCADA
BESS projects often need to exchange status, limits and alarms with existing wind farm SCADA, solar SCADA and grid connection systems. SES can support the control boundaries, data mapping, protocol interfaces and operator visibility needed to connect storage without creating unclear responsibilities.
SCADA migration and renewable integration ->Next step
Discuss the control layer before the site is locked down.
Early input on SCADA, PLC interfaces, data models and alarm philosophy prevents avoidable commissioning delays and makes the finished system easier to operate.
